We believe this historical event in South Africa is a truly inspirational programme for our global audiences."
Michele Sparkes and Thys Botha, Producers for Combined Artists, added: "Miracle Rising®: South Africais a documentary that covers a global struggle, quite possibly the first such event in contemporary history, where the efforts and sacrifices of ordinary people coupled with the power of global opinion-makers resulted in a political and societal transformation which has been described as a 'miracle' of its time. We secured the participation of a significant number of these players to tell the story of what is possible, against momentous odds. The documentary was produced during a time when such forces are again playing out across a global landscape. We like to believe thatMiracle Rising: South Africawill present witness of hope and inspiration which others can learn from and follow."
Imtiaz Patel, Group CEO for MultiChoice South Africa, commented: "MultiChoice is honoured to be involved in bringingMiracle Rising®: South Africato fruition with HISTORY and Dimension Data. This is a landmark project which tells the story of the birth of our South African democracy in a refreshing and remarkable way. If we look at how democracy is playing out in the world around us, this story is one that should be heard by all. As a proudly South African company, it is fitting that our DStv platform will be the first in the world to broadcast this story on HISTORY. We are pleased that through HISTORY, more than 300 million homes around the world will also get access to this story."
Jeremy Ord, Chairman of Dimension Data, said: "As a proudly South African headquartered company, Dimension Data is honoured to be involved in this moving documentary. When we became involved in this initiative over two years ago, the philosophy and principle behind the Group's commitment was - and today still remains - nation building. We wanted to remind the people of South Africa - and indeed the world - about how far South Africa has come since 16:14 on 11 February 1990, when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and first appeared at the gates of Victor-Verster Prison in Paarl, in Cape Town. That moment set South Africa on a path to achieve many amazing and astounding achievements which culminated in what I believe is the ultimate "miracle"- the first ever free and democratic elections in South Africa. I strongly encourage individuals across the globe to watch the documentary."
